Operational Benefits
Our local vessel register system called eSeaRegister helps government agencies keep track of which vessels are owned and operated domestically.
If a vessel never travels outside of your territorial waters it will likely not be in an organized database, which makes it more difficult to determine ownership and responsibility while the vessel is at sea, or even in port.
Access to this national vessel database by Coast Guard can better inform you if there is an incident within your AOR involving a local boat.
If a vessel has travelled outside of your territorial waters and visited another country, and then returned to your country, it will also be recorded in the eSeaClear port clearance database.
Any vessel that is already recorded in eSeaClear will be identified in the eSeaRegister local vessel register by a special icon, so that Coast Guard can cross-reference all information.
Technical Overview
Similar to our eSeaClear port clearance system, the owner of a local vessel can input all required information via the eSeaRegister online web portal.
