Visiting Vessels

Operational Benefits

Our single-window port clearance system, called eSeaClear, helps Customs and Immigration to significantly speed up the port clearance process.

In many cases, the port clearance Notification information is entered into eSeaClear by the Captain prior to the vessel leaving the previous port of call.

Depending which country the vessel is sailing from, and the resultant transit time, in most cases the vessel and crew data is available in the database several days prior to arrival in your territorial waters.

eSeaClear allows the secure real-time sharing of this information with Coast Guard and other appropriate government law enforcement agencies.

If a distress call comes in from a vessel that has filed an online Notification prior to arrival, then you will know exactly who is onboard, and what their planned route was anticipated to be.

If a vessel gets into trouble subsequent to clearing into port, but while still in your AOR, you will know who is onboard, and how many souls in total.

The information can also be used to help contact next-of-kin in a timely manner, if required.

Technical Overview

eSeaClear allows the Captain of a vessel bound for one of your ports, from international waters, to file a Notification alerting border agencies of their pending arrival.

The Notification is completed via the eSeaClear online web portal.

Details of the vessel, crew and passengers can all be entered by the Captain.

Upon arrival in your country, both Customs and Immigration can access the Notification data and can complete the border clearance process with a couple of mouse clicks.

You can also access the database from any mobile device with Internet access while at sea: smartphone, tablet or notebook computer

Name, address and passport details are recorded for all persons onboard

Vessel name and characteristics are recorded, together with ownership details and last port of call

All data is securely stored in the Cloud. Vessel characteristics persist so that frequent visitors only need to update the crew and passenger information

Coast Guard can search the database for arriving vessels, departing vessels, or vessels that have visited in the past
